2011 census: User and advisory groups

We worked with several user and advisory groups to help us plan the 2011 census. The groups played an important role in providing us with:

  • advice
  • feedback
  • quality assurance of data

Scottish census steering committee

The steering committee was made up of people from different parts of Scottish society.

They were asked to provide the Registrar General with advice on how to develop plans for Scotland’s 2011 Census. You can view papers from the committee's meetings on this page.

Its members included representatives of:

  • people who had special difficulties filling in the questionnaires
  • minority ethnic communities
  • Gaelic speakers
  • local authorities
  • the health service
  • industrial and commercial census data users
  • academics
