New research report on Administrative Data Based Estimates
National Records of Scotland has published a new research report looking at Administrative Data Based Population, Household and Ethnicity Estimates for Scotland from 2016 to 2022.
Administrative data is information created when people interact with public services, such as schools or the NHS. This research explores the production of population estimates for Scotland by various demographic and geographic breakdowns, using only administrative data.
For the first time, this publication also includes research on producing household and ethnicity estimates from those sources.
The research is an important stepping stone to informing recommendations for the delivery and production of future population statistics in Scotland.
